Fun Valentine's Day Calzones
This looks like a delicious thing to make and a fun thing for those who have kids. I have always been a fan of making mini pizzas. My mom always let us pick our own toppings and you could do something like that for these calzones. They only call for a bit of filling but you could always add a little something.

What You'll Need
1 pkg yeast
1 Tbsp sugar
1 cup warm water
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp olive oil
1 ¾ cup white flour
1 ¼ cup whole wheat flour
Mozzarella cheese
Marinara sauce
Turkey pepperoni

Additional Filling Ideas:
Canadian Bacon

  1. Combine yeast, sugar and warm water and let set for 5 minutes.

  2. Mix remaining ingredients and then add yeast mixture.

  3. Let dough rise, in a warm place, for about 1-2 hours, until double in size.

  4. Roll out a small portion of the dough at a time, cutting two equal sized hearts.

  5. Fill middle with a thin layer of marinara sauce, turkey pepperoni, and cheese and then layer the top with another heart and crimp the edges together with a fork. Set on baking tray.

  6. Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned.

  7. Test to make sure dough is done baking.

  8. Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.

Have it with salad for a pretty delicious meal!

And should you be looking for another goodie for Valentine's Day, might I suggest Puppy Chow.
Always, fun and delicious! And the best part is you can customize it to a holiday much like Rice Krispie Cookies.

Cool! These are like pizza pops ... which I almost never buy for my kids though they love them. Making them from scratch is a neat idea. I'll bet they'd enjoy doing it. Thanks for sharing this.

You're welcome. I remember loving making my own pizza whether it was English muffin pizzas or tiny personal size ones. I still enjoy it even if I'm going to the local take and bake.

I bet your boys would love it too. And it is even better when you know there aren't a lot of chemicals being mixed into their food.

Yeah I remember making personal pizzas with english muffins too. Lots of fun.

Too true. There is so much processed stuff out there, and I'm allergic to a lot of it it seems. I'm happier eating fresher food myself.

It's true. It bothers me too. That doesn't mean I don't eat some of it but for the most part I've been trying to make most things myself and it is amazing how delicious some things are when you make them yourself... and there have been some great short cuts.

Plus, I've discovered a world of freezing things like my own burgers and meatballs. Awesome.
