iPod's site about battery replacement....
Q: Is the iPod battery replaceable?

A: Yes. Apple has an official battery replacement program for $59 in the United States (see also: Europe and Canada pricing). The program requires that you send in your iPod (any model), and Apple will replace the battery and return it to you for $59 plus shipping and handling (technically, Apple actually replaces your whole iPod with an equivalent new model or factory-refurbished model in a new enclosure, with its own service warranty; if the iPod was previously engraved by Apple, it will be engraved again). AppleCare programs for iPod are also available in some markets outside the US, and are expected soon in other markets.

The replacement program is now also available via Apple Retail locations.

WTF? Have any of you Pod People had to deal with this?

I put that 3 year warranty into my Amazon cart along with the video iPod but I keep thinking I don't need the video capabilities.... I'm completely on the fence because when all is said and done... I will end up spending $322.43 which would include the iPod, warranty and a AC adapter cause I can't always charge it on the computer. That is just so much money...

I know it's a lot of money, but for me it's worth it. I take LONG planes rides from WA to IN a couple times a year and having an Ipod is handy. Having a Video Ipod so I could watch SGA would be loads better. :) Yeah, I have my priorities straight. :P

Oh, and if you really are concerned about spending tha money you should justifiy it. Find some way that you deserve it or earned it and have it be for that. It's a reward. :)

Well I don't really take long plane rides but maybe I will soon. But I want this so I can listen to books... maybe even music (fancy that)... a video might be a possibility if I find it necessary.
