Book Description:
It’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.

MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadly Sinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.

When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed.

Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.

It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil gets blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

Thoughts on the Book:
Wow, so much negativity. If you've read Iced you might have this sense that Ryodan is lusting after the young teenager Dani. The truth is that Ryodan is invested in Dani's life. She is one of the "important people" so everyone who thinks there is some series pedophilia going on needs to cool down. Ryodan's feeling are complicated which we will see in this book.

But here is a theory. What if one of these Nine find their soulmate only their soulmate is still a child? What would happen? Would they feel connected to their soulmate and have an overpowering urge to protect and help them not understanding that someday the feelings would change? See that is my theory on this though there are major leanings to Christian also having one foot in the future of Dani O'Malley.

Which leads me to say, we learn something fairly intriguing about Christian though I refuse to state what.

But here is the thing. If you are a KMM fan you know she's into the soulmate thing and all her characters have come across theirs. Mac and Barrons found one another at an appropriate age so there is a high chance Dani will get one as well. But maybe just maybe Dani is going to have to grow up before we realize who this soulmate of her's is.

And speaking of those Nine. We realize in this book that Ryodan isn't the only one who is invested in Dani. ;-)

The Nine

We get to see so much more of the Nine in this book (Ryodan, Barrons, Lor, Fade, etc.). We don't see them all but we are getting more insight into Ryodan and we get to see much more of Lor and we are being lead into more on Kasteo who is the silent one (presumably because the other 8 of 9 killed the woman he loves).

Here is the thing about this installment which is the reason I didn't get it a 5. It is Dani's series and yet she isn't really the main character of this book. She is barely part of the book. Everything is again from Mac's POV which isn't an issue for me but I felt there was a serious lack of movement on Dani's story though a huge surprise comes to pass for our girl Dani.

I don't hate the book. I do seem to hate the fact I discovered this series when I was going to have to wait for each installment because when this book ended I felt myself die a little inside. I need more and I want it now. Sadly, we don't always get what we want.

Moving onto the fact that we not only learn more about Ryodan and some of the Nine but also some of the sidhe-seers, namely Jo and Kat and a new addition.

And best of the best. The Keltar are back and they are always delicious.

I love that no matter what the books comes out to be KMM brings her best every time. Maybe this isn't my favorite installment of the series but don't discount the series. I'm drooling for another book and I will buy the next the moment it comes out.... like next year? *diez*

This is seriously one of the best series of books I've ever read.
