25 Days of Christmas: Christmas Lights

I love Christmas lights and when I was a kid, every Christmas Eve we would drive out the to my Aunt's house to celebrate with them. On the trip back we'd stop off in some of the famous neighborhoods in Southern California to see the Christmas lights. Even now I go out looking for Christmas lights this time of the year. It is much harder to do in a rural area but there are some neighborhoods that do a great job.

Should you be in Southern California at Christmas time, I highly recommend looking up the areas that have the light displays and driving out to see them.

That second pic of the solitary tree is amazing!

Aren't they. It amazes me how many lights people would put out.

wow, those are crazy many christmas lights! :o We have some houses that do a lot but I don't think anything like THAT :D

I love that first one!!!

I love them all but it is insane what neighborhoods will do. I love going to see them though where I am now there are a lot less. But Southern California goes nuts.

I'm not really a fan of the colored ones. I like the white ones best, artfully arranged :D

Me too.

WOW. I've never seen lights like that before. They're really pretty, although I don't think I'd want to live near that last house. You wouldn't be able to sleep at night if they didn't turn those lights off! *lol*

That is true. I think in the LA area there is a time limit. I think the city tells the big neighborhoods that deck out their streets that they have to be off by a certain time for just such a reason.

I would hope so. It would be really bright in everyone's homes around them otherwise. There's someone who lives in the apartment building across the street from us who puts up lots of lights, including something that flashes on and off repeatedly and they leave it on all night every night. I feel like I'm going to have a seizure if I stare at it! I mean I like lights and decorations but that's a bit much!

How annoying! Yeah, even we turn off our Christmas lights at night. I can't imagine leaving them on all night. That is a lot of electricity to use.

It really is. A lot of electricity and money wasted.

We were watching a Christmas light show program and some of the people on there said they'd invested in solar panels so they could do this and they have LED lights which use less energy so there is something.

Still don't leave them on please!
