Description: When Joel and Molly meet, it's hate at first sight: his big Corporate Candy Company threatens to shut down her quirky indie shop. Plus, Joel is hung up on his sexy ex. But amazingly, they fall in love, until they break up about two thirds of the way through.
No, I didn't forget to put stars above. I can't believe I watched this entire movie!
I really thought a movie with both Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd would be hilarious. I was so wrong. To me the movie sounded like a romantic comedy and I was willing to give it a go. What the movie really is, is a parody of a romantic comedy. This movie pulls out all the cliches about romantic comedies and beats us over the head with them for about 63 minutes longer than necessary (the movies is 83 minutes long).
Both Rudd and Poehler are great and funny actors which only leads me to believe they were having a bad day when they agreed to star in the movie. I seriously doubt Poehler needs the money.
Some of the situations in the movie, such as a scene where Poehler's character is trying on differe ridiculous outfits to meet Rudd's character, could have been humorous if every bit of humor leading up to it hadn't been the writing of a 5 year old. I would say most of the humor was childish when it wasn't just profane.
It's biggest issue was there was diolague that actually seemed to make no sense and the thick layer of spoofing left no room for enjoyment because every second of the movie had to be a spoof of something else.
I would recommend you not even watch it for free (as I did). Your time would be better spent twiddling your thumbs.
Disclaimer: This is just my opinion and you may very well love/hate the movie. To each their own.
