Movie Review: Snowpiercer with Chris Evans

Rating:
Description: Set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on the planet except for a lucky few who boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system emerges.

Thoughts:
Oh Chris, I wanted to love this movie because I do like you, but alas it made no sense.

I know next to nothing about this movie except what the description said and that it had a rating of 4 stars. 4! People online were raving about it so I looked it up on our free Netflix and sure enough there it was. I read that above description and thought... why not?

It wasn't worth the free watch! I don't understand the movie at all and there was this back story of a horror that took place which made me want to be sick that I never needed to know nor did they have to go there. They were trying to make the plight of the last car on the train more horrific when it was horrible enough. The story started out with potential and then veered wildly into "let's do whatever the help we want."

I believe this movie was about a class system and the rich or powerful keeping down the little guy which I don't agree with (I'm a little guy). I don't buy into the one-per-centers are evil mentality. But this movie comes from a point of post-apocalyptic events and how society became about the more elite keeping the "common" on the end of the train in squalor. So the story has a point but I don't think it really applies to our world and more the this fantasy world. The abuse the Hats (front of the train society) perpetrate on the Shoes (last few cars of the train) is reprehensible enough. It is the same old story of people wanting to ensure their comfort and existence at the expense of others.

For me the problem with this story was its over the top story, it's unbelievable and sometimes ridiculous characters and the horrors we had to bring into the story to make it more shocking.

I never tell and ending so I'll just say, not only did the ending make little to no sense but it was stupid.

Don't bother.

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion and you may very well love/hate the movie. To each their own.

Strange movie... I never heard of this. This train. It just keeps going around the globe without stopping? What did it run on? Faith? It seems like a trend. Movies and books about a dystopian future getting stranger and stranger. Especially young adult books...which is rather disturbing.

Well because the earth is so frozen over apparently it gave someone the ability to run track across the ocean... though I believe it is supposed to be in the future and they have this ability somehow.

It is disturbing mostly because people actually think something like this will happen.

This one was an attempt at preventing Global Warming by seeding the atmosphere which in turn made an ice age. *shakes head* So bad.

I think I remember making myself sit through it and not being impressed. So it wasn't just me then :D

Don't bother.

Thanks for the warning. My only interest in seeing this film was Tilda Swinton, who I think is a marvelous actress, but based on everything you said, I'm not sure even seeing her would make worth my while.

Tilda was decent in the movie as was Chris Evans but it just didn't justify watching the movie.

Tilda has been in better.
