RIP: Robin Williams

July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014

There are not words, really. Robin Williams is a comedian and actor, I have grown up watching and loving. Such shows as Mork & Mindy and movies like Popeye, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Hook, Aladdin, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, Night at the Museum (multiple) and so much more have been a part of my life for as long as my memory.

To say good-bye to such a beloved personality is so difficult and to read that his death is a possible suicide. Truly, saddening.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow comedians who undoubtedly grieve immensely.

Robin, you will be so missed.

This morning apparently. It is all over the internet news. He was found at around noon today.

So very sad.

I missed the first 10 minutes of the evening news. I guess that's why. And I was at work most of the day. I turned off the TV after the news. Now it's all over CNN (I just looked) It seems he took his own life....

Yes, I read that. It's rather sad that someone who seemed to always be sooo happy clearly wasn't.

It really is such a shame!

It is.

Incredibly sad. Movies like Dead Poets Society, What Dreams May Come and Mrs Doubtfire rank amongst my favourites of all time. Such an amazing actor who could reduce you to laughing so hard it hurt to making you cry like your heart was breaking.

So tragic that someone who brought such laughter and joy with his many performances was so unhappy in his own life. Hopefully he will find the peace and laughter now that he couldn't while he was alive ;(

It's true. He was talented.

It is. One can only hope.

I read about this earlier. So sad...so very sad. We're losing so many talented people and I just want to cry. He was one of the most talented.

I was pretty upset when I read about it. I couldn't believe it.

still can't grasp the fact that the man responsible for many of my childhood memories is gone...but not forgotten he will be remembered always.

Amen. I just can't believe it. I have always adored and admired him. The world will be a darker place without his humour and love.

It is just so true. We always watch things because Robin Williams is in it. Now what? According to his filmography he has a couple movies coming out... I know the 3rd Night at the Museum is coming out and now I want to see it.

Yes, I think putting all movies with Robin Williams at the top of my to-rent queue is what will be happening now. I'd like to revisit them, and see the newer ones I haven't seen yet. I wasn't overly impressed by his series last year, The Crazy Ones, but I think that was more the fault of the show/writing, as he was really the only interesting thing in it.

I know... gonna have to go through my movies and pull out all his. And somehow I don't have Hook which I loved. Going to have to remedy that.

I didn't love The Crazy Ones either but I watched. I loved him but yeah the writing wasn't great.

I loved Hook too but we only have a VHS version of it and our player has long since died so I'm going to have to acquire it on DVD or through the Apple store or something. The kids have never seen it and I think they'd love it, especially the food fight scene. We quote from it often. :)

Same here. I've got to get it on DVD or Blu Ray.

So many of the young-ens here haven't seen it either and it is one of the best movies.

We do too. Lots of "Play!" or "Ruuuufeeeoooo" and sometimes a "Run Home Jack" in there for good measure.
