Book Description:
Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun when her mother suddenly arrives at the Abbey to take her home… so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed!

But from the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy sweet bride… and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her. For though Annabel's not the bride he planned for, she's the only woman he desires…

What did you think of the book? (Why this book?, New Author? Read more by author? Keeping? Thoughts on Hero? Heroine?)
Cheesy Avon romance novel yes? Well, okay maybe but it was great. I've been a little disillusioned with the more recent Highlander novels I've been reading. They are always okay but this one was good. Maybe not spectacular but I'd read it again because it was so lighthearted and fun.

Seriously, it is rare to laugh out loud at a book and Annabel's simple, fun, and innocent nature made me laugh and feel like the story was less bogged down with all the angst of so many other books. Sure making a conflict in a characters past can make the story better but sometimes less is more.

In this case, Annabel life hasn't been ideal growing up and her parents leave something to be desired but Annabel is one of those positive people who can make anyone like them just by being herself and Sands protrays that part of Annabel without any struggle what so ever.

Again, the hero often has a long drawn out back story and issues to over come but in Ross's case it was only half true. Yes, we learned some of the trouble from his history but from the start he accepts his bride for who she is and likes her because of it.

All of the woes for Annabel and Ross come from the outside while inside their marriage and relationship they are on a good foundation and getting stronger throughout everything they encounter.

For me this was a truly sweet and wonderful love story and I would recommend it to anyone who is a romance fan.
