The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton (#2) & Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showalter (#3)

Title: The Laughing Corpse
Series: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #2
Author: Laurell K. Hamilton
Pages (or KB): 332 (599)

Book Description/Review:
Harold Gaynor offers Anita Blake a million dollars to raise a 300-year-old zombie. Knowing it means a human sacrifice will be necessary, Anita turns him down. But when dead bodies start turning up, she realizes that someone else has raised Harold's zombie--and that the zombie is a killer. Anita pits her power against the zombie and the voodoo priestess who controls it.

In The Laughing Corpse Anita will learn that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better off dead...

[Laughing Corspe Thoughts]
And yet no matter what I did, I couldn't enjoy the story. The description of this book describes a different senario, I believe, that what we encounter. Yes, Harold Gaynor wants Anita to raise the 300 year old zombie with a human sacrifice and yes bodies start popping up but there seems to be a stumbling around effect with these books. Anita's thought process is annoying and her overconfidence in all cases is just too over the top. I couldn't even think of recommending these to anyone and while I was curious enough to want to keep reading... I don't think I can continue.

Title: Savor Me Slowly
Series: Alien Huntress, 3
Author: Gena Showalter
Pages (or KB): 386 (468)

Book Description/Review:

Mishka Le'Ace was created to be an undercover operative...literally. Her beautiful body has been mechanically augmented to give her superhuman strength -- strength she's going to need. Her latest mission sends her to rescue Alien Investigation and Removal agent Jaxon Tremain from torture and death. With him, she discovers a passion unlike any other. A passion she was forbidden to know....

From the moment they meet in a darkened cell, Jaxon craves her touch. But the machine half of Le'Ace forces her to do things she doesn't always want to do. Even betray him...and ultimately destroy him. Now Jaxon must battle the man controlling Le'Ace, and even Le'Ace herself, to at last claim the woman he's come to love.

[Savor Me Slowly Thoughts]
Really not as good as the second installment of the series but overall not a bad story. I'm not sure I like the idea that Jaxon usually acts respectable but Miska brings out the curse words and the overbearing attitude. Still both characters were entertaining and interesting though I can't say I'm overly fond of the series.

I did like Miska and that she has some serious issues to overcome like being controlled by another person and making her do awful things. The moments between Miska and Jaxon were sweet and well done but again this book made me dislike Mia.

What I did like about this story was that Miska seemed capable and Jaxon respected that. Often in a story such as these the man can't really deal with his woman being in danger.
