Writer's Block: Lessons Learned
Do you have farmers' markets in your area, and if so, do you like to shop there for fresh items? What's the best thing you've ever brought home from one?
I love going to the Farmers Market. We have such great selections most of the time. One of my favorite things I ever got there was hybrid melons. They were so delicious but I have no idea what they were. I love going and getting all the vegetables and plums... so many different kinds of plums. I love plumcots which is basically a hybrid of a plum and an apricot. Yum. I don't like apricots because of the fuzz but the plumcots are better. What else. They often have Kettle Corn which I love but I only get it once in a while. Also, sometimes there are adorable kitties from the animal shelter there that I can love (no won't be getting a pet anytime soon). Um... and people. I love being able to socialize with everyone.

hehe, you make me wanna go :D

but farmers markets over here are all so hectic and overrun, though you'd think, in the middle of the day, that people would be at work :D

also, there isn't only 'farmer's' stuff, there's icky underwear booths and cloth and hardware and shit on our markets so... (the underwear isn't icky as in dirty or used, but as in everyone touched it and it's not in packets put all over the place) :D

I'd love to go to a real farmer's market, bet it's awesome with all the fresh stuff :)

We do have some other booths at the Farmers Market that aren't farm fresh foods but they aren't too bad. Some jewelry, some tote bags, Scentsy Pots (like candles) and soap booths. Nothing too horrifying.

Yours doesn't sound that appealing.

if there is a balance, it's ok, but if you find more trashy stuff than what you'd expect at a farmer's market, it gets annoying.

same goes for the antique markets here! :D

those plum things do sound interesting though. not sure if there's something like that here, would have to check :D

That is very true. You want more good stuff that trashy.

Oh antique shops here are awful. You walk in and none of it seems like antiques but rather thrift store junk.

California farmers go nuts coming up with new and interesting things.

thrift store junk would probably be preferable to junk junk and cheap horrible clothing racks :D

well, you do have the sun for it! :D

Very true.

Yes we do. We have sun in abundance and are willing to share.

one day I will so come to visit! next year we're doing more of an 'inland trip' though I don't know where exactly :D I'm not involved in the planning of that one :D some nature parks I think :)

To California? Inland can mean just about anything but it does mean your unlikely to be along the coast. Let me know where you'll be. We have nature parks here and we are a tourist hot spot... you never know.

yeah, one day I'll see california, even if it's on my way to or from hawaii :D

I think we're seeing the west side of the middle :D I have no idea and I suck at geography :D I'll have to ask when they get back from their current holidays :D

Cool.

Well let me know. Chances are you'll be far away but who knows.
