A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK... Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers -- until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.
A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS... To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth's brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own. HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER? Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?
What did you think of the book? (Why this book?, New Author? Read more by author? Keeping? Thoughts on Hero? Heroine?)
Wow, I couldn't put this book down. I continue to give them fours because they are really good without being one of the best books I've ever read. Still I feel like these books are getting better as you move through them. They are just great in their own way.
Conrad was a treat being a fallen vampire of the Wroth brothers we've come to know. We discovered upon Sebastian meeting his Bride that he could forgive his brothers for turning him against his will. Now all the brothers are trying to help being a crazed and insane Conrad back from the brink of madness (induced by the memories of those he kills while drinking). They hope that Conrad finding his Bride will help him with this. So they capture him and drag him to a vacant manor. Well they think it is vacant, but it is really occupied by its once owner turned ghost. And only Conrad can see her.
Conrad doesn't seem to have as much dimension as some of the other heroes in the series but then he also has been living as a crazed vampire without coherent thought. He has trouble with trust and anger which is reflected at times in his dealings with Neomi who is used to being her own person/ghost and playing by her own rules.
Neomi's character is a little more fascinating as she's a burlesque dancer turned ballerina in the 20s who is stabbed to death by her ex-fiance. She was always a self-sufficient woman who didn't see the need for a man to take care of everything for her and she'd never really been in love. Conrad's desire to take care of her is foreign but appreciated as she realizes the men of her past can't hold a candle to Conrad. Neomi starts to realize that she has to actually step up and be the person she was before her death in order to have a chance of being with Conrad.
It is a great story filled with twists and turns. Can't wait for more!
