Book Description:
Harm no human…

A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.

Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief—Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meeting the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.

A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster…

Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth and is determined to see him dead once and for all.

Brought together by an angry god and chased by ancient enemies out to kill them both, they must find a way to overcome their mutual hatred or watch as one of the darkest of powers rises and kills both the races they’ve sworn to protect.

What did you think of the book? (Why this book?, New Author? Read more by author? Keeping? Thoughts on Hero? Heroine?)
While I liked this book a lot better than No Mercy, it still held less of an appeal than some I've read in the past. I'm hoping the series gets back on track though the Time Untime they've talked about in this book is actually the name of one of the books to come so I'm assuming we are going to continue with the Native American mythology which I'm not really into.

Having said that I did enjoy the character of Sundown Jess Brady though I don't remember him from previous books. Despite his reputation as a human, he seems far from a bloody thirsty criminal in his Dark-Hunter life. He's quick humor was often fun.

Abby was also enjoyable because she wasn't some weak heroine who needs the hero to save her all the time. Granted every hero or heroine has there moments but she came into this story killing the big guys. Unfortunately, those big guys her Dark-Hunters and a Guardian whose death brings about another apocalypse.

The banter between Jess and Abby is fun and light-hearted though there romance seems rushed and a little odd considering he knew her whens he was a small child. Also Jess's Squire Andy is rather funny as well. I did enjoy the appearance of Talon, Zarek and the short about Ash and Tori at the very end.

I was just saying to a friend the other day that Sherrilyn Kenyon frustrates me...

She has the ability to write some amazing stuff that reaches out, grabs me and has me reading for hours... Then she has other stuff that is... well... "bleh"

I'm so glad that someone else thinks the same. I've just finished "Devil May Cry"

Right. I mean in the beginning of this series I was so entralled by them. They were awesome books. Acheron was also a fantastic book but now it seems like more often than not they are rather bleh. This stinks because despite that I want to know what happens to a lot of these characters and I can't know that unless I read the bad books too.

I remember being in the middle with Devil May Cry. That was Sin and Katra's book right. I remember liking it and not loving it. But then it also had to do with Acheron (or Ash) so I did like it more than most. He's my fav.

"Acheron" blew me away!!! It kept me reading until the wee small hours when I should have been sleeping! I cried, I laughed, I was horrified... It was brilliant!

It was my friend who introduced me to them. She gave me Kyrian's book - but in manga comic form!!!! I loved it and immediately bought the first few novels, unable to put them down...

And yes, "Devil May Cry" is Sin and Katra

I admit to only having read her Dark Hunter series, none of the others...

Didn't it just. I love Ash's story. I used to love when he'd pop up in the stories. And I so badly wanted to know what happened to him in his past. My goodness, I don't think Sherrilyn can top his horrible life. I remember Zarek's being pretty awful but Ash takes the cake.

And I adore Simi!

You do mean the ones that relate to the Dark-Hunter Series because the Were-Hunters and Dream-Hunters are all mixed in and really would make you miss something, I think.

The Chronicles of Nick start the series over, kind of. It focuses in on Nick and kind of changing things so hopefully what happened to Nick in the Dark-Hunter series won't happen.

Retribution has a great short for Ash and Tori.

I have the first 2 Manga books. I loved them too but they pretty much retell everything though I think I like the actual books better.
