TV Meme Day 5: A show you hate
I know most of you like this show but I have never scene and episode that didn't bug the hell out of me. I don't find MOST of the "humor" funny and most of the characters (minus Jim and Pam) bug the hell out of me. I just don't like the show and I usually don't watch the show except for the times my brother and sister watch it and I'm kind of stuck just taking it in.

Usually crude or offensive humor doesn't do it for me.

I just don't get the hype of The Office...I've heard a funny snippets, but I can't sit through more than 30 seconds of an ep.

Me too. I really expected more flack from people but the majority of commentators appear to agree.

I feel on edge when watching the show. Like at any moment I'm going to just get really angry and push the tv off the stand. The show just bugs me.

Okay some crude humor and more awkward humor. And I'm fine that friends like the show. I can completely ignore it when I want too.

It's not so much as I'm uncomfortable with the show as that it makes me angry. Odd, I know. I feel the need to turn the tv off (or do it serious harm) when this show is on. It just really rubs me the wrong way.

I think so too.

That is true. The receptionist thing really does seem accurate.

Completely agree with your choice!
Jill aka Josireesanwar on June 7th, 2010 09:25 pm (UTC)
Thank you. I thought more would disagree.
Angelserenitysangel on June 7th, 2010 09:54 pm (UTC)
Nope, can't stand the uncomfortable humour or the humiliating humour that is in this and the original British version. Just not appealing at all.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on June 7th, 2010 11:10 pm (UTC)
Exactly. It just upsets me. I can't take it.
Alex: gtfostormsandsins on June 7th, 2010 07:20 pm (UTC)
I don't get the hype either. I don't get it on tv so for the most part I've just never felt the urge to watch it online, but I did catch a few snippets here and there at my sister's home and I just... don't get it.

But I agree with another commenter: it's not so much that it's crude, it's more awkward and exaggerated, I find.

I don't get it either. And at times their jokes make me made. I have been stunned by some of the jokes I've heard but usually I'm just upset that it is even on TV.

Yes, I didn't state that correctly I guess. But I seem to have an extreme dislike and I think in part it is too the awkward jokes they tell. Plus, I can't stand Michael or Dwight.

I hate The Office too. Never did see what was so enticing about it. I'm not a fan of Big Bang Theory either though I know many who are (you included) - it just seems too obvious in its humour and I hate sitcoms for the laugh tracks.
Jill aka Jo: BBT: Bazingasireesanwar on June 7th, 2010 09:29 pm (UTC)
I think I hate The Office mostly because of the uncomfortable humor.

For me Big Bang is fun because it is simple humor and a lot of it plays off of types (Sheldon being a huge Star Trek geek) and such. I don't care about the laugh tracks so much as I want a fairly fun and at times intelligent joke and I feel like Big Bang delivers on that.

It's interesting how we all sees things differently. To me, Big Bang Theory uses non intelligent humor and just plays on geek stereotypes, insulting them rather than laughing along with them. That's what I watch shows like Butn Notice and Castle for, the more intelligent humor.

To each his or her own though. :)

I guess so...

So have you started the new season of Burn Notice. I really enjoyed the first episode.
tracyj23tracyj23 on June 8th, 2010 09:30 pm (UTC)
Yes! I enjoyed it though it was quite different than previous seasons. Makes sense, I wasn't sure where else they could go with the story the way it was. I'm looking forward to more!
Jill aka Jo: BN: M & F Drinkingsireesanwar on June 9th, 2010 12:37 am (UTC)
I was afraid it would get old too. I'm glad they are taking it in another direction too. I can't wait to see more.

One thing I've always loved about Burn Notice is that Michael has never been afraid to cause damage. So many do-gooder shows aren't willing to kill someone or blow something up. Now, I'm glad Michael isn't killing indiscriminately but he's not a afraid to shoot back and actually take out the target. I think at times he surprises me because they writer's aren't always playing it safe.

I agree. It's one of the things that make the show great - it's unpredictability.

Nice header. :)

I saw it on a friends and I just love it. I made it a bit smaller because it was so big but I still credited the make. Don't you just love it. *giggles* I had too. It's so pretty!

That would be my journal. *lol*. I just switched to it yesterday. :)

I hope you don't feel like I've taken your header. I just loved it so.

I've never watched it at all because the commercials never appealed to me. I'm not into the crude and vulgar humor either.

A show I hate might be Desperate Housewives, although I've never actually watched that either. One I did start watching and didn't keep watching though was Reaper.
Jill aka Jo: Stock: Rainsireesanwar on June 16th, 2010 06:54 pm (UTC)
I couldn't bring myself to go past season 1 of Desperate Housewives. I tried because I wanted to support Jamie Denton (Pretender) but I couldn't do it. It was just too much.

I never did try Reaper. It didn't sound appealing.
