Writer's Block: Pet central
Some animal rights activists are fighting to replace the term 'owner' with 'guardian' to convey a more balanced relationship between a person and her or his pet. Do you agree or disagree with the importance of this mission?

I'm all for people trying to prevent animals from abuse because I believe animals were a responsibility God gave man. But this is just idiotic. Owner or guardian... frankly, it doesn't matter because your pet is never going to understand the difference nor will it mean you have any less of a responsibility to take care of them.

Frankly, guardian kind of sounds less like a permanent situation that OWNING a pet should be.

Guess what? I OWN my cat and she loves me for it.

What? I've never heard of anything like that. I completely agree. How ridiculous! *shakes head*

I'm mean dumb right. I understand that some people don't feel the should or can own a living being but I say it doesn't really matter. You can own an animal, you can't own a human.

Guardian is what they call my mom where my niece is concerned.

Totally agree with you, especially about how guardian sounds less than owning.

Me too. I mean I also get the idea behind not owning a living being but with an animal like a cat or dog that really relies on a human.... owning is fine. I mean sure I own my kitty but she's still my baby.
