Nooooo!!!!!!! iPod Help!!!!!!
I think Simi (my iPod) died last night! Seriously. I was listening to my book and suddenly it just shut off so I'm thinking it needs to be charged only it won't charge at all!

The other day I had to reset it because it kind of froze. It was playing but no sound was coming out.

iPod people! Did my Pod just die?

Remember how I said I wanted a iTouch? I can't afford that! I mean if this iPod just died then what?

iPod Touch 2nd Gen32 GB$369.95
iPod Classic 6th Gen120 GB$219.95
 80 GB$249.00
5.5 Gen30 GB$332.58
5th Gen (Mine)30 GB$204.99
I only paid $112.49 for mine. It was a deal. Now what?

I wouldn't supposed someone out there has an iPod they don't want? *headdesk* Why me? First medical bills, then car issues, and now my sanity... my iPod.

Have you powered it down completely? iPods need that and they get flaky if you don't do it pretty regularly. Try shutting it off for a while then powering it up again and charging. Hopefully that will work.

If not, iPod Nanos are much cheaper than classics or Touches. You can get a 16 gig Nano for about $180 (Canadian dollars). And it can hold your entire music library and some TV and movies as well.

Powered it down? It just shut off on me and wouldn't go back on. I simply assumed it needed charging but it wouldn't charge.

I really want one that is as big as mine because I'll tell you right now I have over 16 GB of stuff on mine. *sigh*

Try powering it down. I forget which buttons you'll need to use - the centre and Menu? or is it play/pause and Menu? Either way, it should bring up a black screen with an apple on it which restarts. Then you should be able to charge it.

And whether or not you WANT one as big as yours, you may not have a choice. Sometimes you have to settle for less if you can't afford it. Live with less, it's not the end of the world. Just cull your music a little.

Okay I understand now. Okay.... I'm doing it.

OMG!!!! It worked. It seems to be working now. It is charging. I hope this works.

I'm sorry but I'd rather save and get one I want than settle. I know what you are saying but I'm a little tired of settling all the time.

I'm sorry. Thing have just been bad this last hour or so... I probably shouldn't be posting.

S'okay, I'm just trying to let you know something is better than nothing. But I get what you're saying. *hugs*

I'm glad it's working. iPods can be kind of flaky and (like laptops) if you don't turn them off completely and restart on a fairly regular basis, the battery goes all wonky and it does strange things. Let me know how it works out. If it does, I may have to rename myself the iPod guru. ;)

I know. I'm just not doing well.

iPod guru works. I think it just wanted your advice because I tried the reset last night and it wouldn't do it but now after you told me to do it... it's working. I don't understand iPods.

Technology kind of throws me. Thankfully I live with a tech guru and he's the one who helps me when my iPods go all weird. I'm just passing the knowledge around.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on January 7th, 2009 08:21 pm (UTC)
Works for me.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on January 7th, 2009 06:21 pm (UTC)
What do you mean by power it down? Just hold down the Play/Pause until it goes off right?

I think I'm meaning restart. Check my other comment.

oh my...what horrible news! I have my ipod nearly 14 days now and I love him dearly :-)
I hope that you get yours to work again.
When have you bought it? Maybe there's still a guarantee on it.
*crosses my fingers that it will work again*
*hugs*

It was feb of 07. No guarantee left. But I think I got it working. Tracy helped me. Of course, I had tried her suggestion before but apparently my iPod was waiting for her to coax it into life.

I hope it continues to work though I doubt I'll get my wish.

Sorry to hear about your iPod. I hate it when things just stop working for no reason. I hope it turns out to just be something to do with the charging and it comes back to life.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on January 8th, 2009 06:06 pm (UTC)
I think it is working now. It just went all weird on me.
