Valkyrie & Despereaux
The Tale of Despereaux
It was cute but at the same time there seemed to be a lot about the movie that wasn't necessary. I've never read the book but I kept thinking things had to have been added and sure enough my sister mentioned most of the things I picked out as not really being part of the story. Sure it was cute to watch for the most part but it just wasn't what I would call worth seeing in theaters. I would wait to rent this movie for your kids when it comes to DVD.

Valkyrie
I can't say I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan. In fact, he's presence in a movie usually repels me but the subject of this movie drew me in. It was a wonderfully made movie despite the lack of accents. The very beginning of the movie makes the transition from German to English (as if everything had been translated for our benefit) and Cruise isn't the only one without a German accent. It becomes apparent early on that the story will grab your attention away from accents and make you focus on the plan to take down Hilter. I didn't know much about Col. Claus von Stauffenberg but you can really see why he became a German hero. I think Cruise did a respectful portrayal of this German hero and brings a measure of respect back to himself with such a role.

The rest of the cast was also amazing. There were many familiar and talented faces. Some you felt you knew but couldn't recognize, one such being the Reserves Commander which I plan on looking up but am unsure what his name was in the movie so it could be difficult. EDIT: Found him! Name is Thomas Kretchmann! I don't know why he grabbed my attention but I thought he was awesome!

This is a movie I would highly recommend and I'm very happy I got to see it in theaters.

I love Thomas Kretschmann. He's such a great and good-looking actor. I saw him in a new version of Jack London's "Sea Wolf" as Wolf Larssen and it was sooo good.
I can't stand Tom Cruise either...that's why I won't watch this movie...at least not in the cinemas. On TV I can at least change the tv channel *hehe*

Sea Wolf huh? I'm going to have to watch that. How I go about getting it is going to be interesting as it isn't on Netflix unless it isn't called Sea Wolf.

Yeah not loving Cruise but this really was worth seeing.
