1.73 USD per gallon?
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 26th, 2008 11:41 pm (UTC)
Yep. I can't believe it has dropped so drastically from $4.

Aha, was just told the price was quadrupled there? 0_o

The gas price is about 10 sek/litre in Sweden atm, yet society was not designed with one having to take the car to get anywhere here, so things are a bit rougher on your side of the world with so many being dependant on going places with cars. As with one gallon being roughly 4 litres, it means in the US gas costs 3.45 sek/litre. So yeah, alternate energy/power sources would be good to look into, for everyone, especially the climate! More and more eco cars are being sold in Sweden, I suspect the development is similar over there?

I'm all for cars that don't wreck the environment but right now having it at $1.73 rather than $4.00 is great but I'm wondering why it is falling so drastically.

It's falling because the price of oil is way down. It's down around $40 a barrel whereas 6 months ago it was up to $160 barrel. The gas companies can't really justify keeping the prices that high when the economy around the world has tanked and oil is dirt cheap or their customers would slay them so they lowered them.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on December 1st, 2008 08:36 pm (UTC)
Oh okay. That makes sense and isn't as scary as I thought. At least they are lowering it. I'm hoping it falls a little more... I'd love to see $1.50 ish that would be cool.

Nope, it's not scary. Makes a lot of sense really. And we'd all be REALLY angry if oil was dirt cheap and we were still paying a fortune for gas. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next little while, whether the price continues to drop or stabilizes. Much of that depends on the world economy I guess.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on December 1st, 2008 09:58 pm (UTC)
It will. I hope things start stabilizing though who knows with the stupidity the US government is pulling. Printing more money only leads to inflation.

I know! Gas here is down to 86 cents per litre. It was double that a few months ago!
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 27th, 2008 01:48 am (UTC)
It's strange. I mean don't you feel like the dramatic drop is bad somehow?

I mean I'm loving it because I filled my car for less that $20 but it's weird.
tracyj23: It's okay Plutotracyj23 on November 27th, 2008 07:20 pm (UTC)
Yes it definitely feels odd. I didn't think I'd ever see gas at under $1.00 a litre again. Still costs us $40 to fill our car but that's better than the $60 it was a while ago.

I never thought it would be in the 1 dollar range again. I was considering driving to see my BFFs and now I can do it.
gaelbrady: You may say I'm a dreamer...gaelbrady on November 27th, 2008 04:41 am (UTC)
We were down to $1.59 here! I couldn't believe it!
Jill aka Jo: AIW: Oh Mysireesanwar on December 1st, 2008 07:43 pm (UTC)
WoW! That is so cool. I can't even believe the crazy low gas prices going on but I hope it stays like this.
Bethanie Dollar: Cynicismchevellechik70 on November 29th, 2008 07:41 pm (UTC)
You suck! We produce sooo much oil here, it's ridiculous and the cheapest I've found is $1.83!!!

*evil laugh* Sorry. We also have a tourist community so it is competitive. They try to attract the tourists.
