Jill aka Jo: Bacic Addictsireesanwar on September 12th, 2006 07:31 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Yes, isn't it pretty. I can't wait until it comes so I can wear it everywhere! I'm sooo excited. It's a replica from my favorite books series... Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I adore those books!
Sekhmetsekhmet911 on September 13th, 2006 01:18 am (UTC)
Outlander? what are they about?

I'm asking cuz I'm looking for some good books to read. :)
Jill aka Josireesanwar on September 13th, 2006 08:17 pm (UTC)
Okay bear with me on this.... when I read the back of the book I was seriously skeptical because it sounded kind of dumb but it is by far the best book and series I've ever read.

It is about Claire Randall, really, and her astonishing life and love. It starts in 1945 where she is married to Frank Randall. They are on a second honeymoon after being seperate during the war. Things quickly turn upside down as she stumbles through standing stones (much like stone hedge) and finds herself in 1743 (i think). (I know. At this point I was thinking... are you serious...)

From there things just keep spiraling out of her control as she's forced to chose between a relatively safe existence with a Scottish clan or a very frightening Captain Jack Randall (Englishman), who happens to be the ancestor of the husband she left behind.

Claire's goal is to return to the stones and go back to her husband but events, her heart, and a man named Jamie Fraser start leading her further and further from the stones and the man she thought she loved.

Claire also gets tossed into the beginning of the Scottish uprising known as the 45 where she already knows that the Scottish will lose to the English at the battle of Culloden (this is more in the second book), but not before enduring and overcoming many obstacles along the way.

List of the Books in order:
Dragonfly in Amber
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ash

If you read these please tell me what you think. I love these books with a passion that borders on obsession, though other Outlander fans seem to think it normal... I hope you read them and love them as much as I. Also I have a booklist post of everything I've read or am going to be reading... I'll tag it all bookself.... so look for it.

Happy Birthday! Hope you get to celebrate it in style. That icon is a nice start. :-)
Jill aka Jo: Big Damn Herosireesanwar on September 12th, 2006 07:32 pm (UTC)
Yeah the icon is kind of a dud but the actual ring is what I was talking about. I bought me my replica of the Outlander ring from Diana Gabaldon's series of books... big fan. Love Celtic/Scotish everything!
Mikou: Jason Momoamikou on September 13th, 2006 02:18 am (UTC)
Don't mind me. I hadn't had my daily dose of caffeine. I meant to say the ring in the icon, not the icon itself.

I love the Outlander series... well, the 3 books I read. I'm not caught up.)
Jill aka Jo: Jamie Je Suis Prestsireesanwar on September 13th, 2006 07:54 pm (UTC)
You're an Outlander fan! Okay I just have to say you have really good taste in books *giggle*. My favs of the series were Outlander (#1), Voyager (#3), Fiery Cross (#5), and A Breathe of Snow and Ash (#6). The last one was really good so get reading girl!
Mikou: Jason Momoamikou on September 13th, 2006 11:25 pm (UTC)
Wow. BSaA is #6? I'm more behind than I thought! I love the 1st 3, but I think the 1st is my favorite of those. I guess I need to get cracking, though I'll probably need to start from the beginning.

*and I suddenly got distracted by the thought of Ronon in a kilt*
Jill aka Jo: Jamie Je Suis Prestsireesanwar on September 14th, 2006 12:11 am (UTC)
Yep I know...6 of those long books but they are so worth it.

Yep! Get crackin girl.. so much more Jamie and Claire to read.

Hmmm... Ronon in a kilt. That is a nice thought but my kilted man is Jamie or Gerard Butler... *big grin*
Mikou: Jason Momoamikou on September 14th, 2006 02:40 am (UTC)
Gerard is the one who was in Phantom of the Opera, right? He never quite did it for me, until just this week when I caught a minute or 2 of the 2nd Tomb Raiders movie. He was quite sexy there.

And, of course, I adore Jamie from the Outlander books. He and Claire are very engaging characters.
Jill aka Jo: Jamie Je Suis Prestsireesanwar on September 14th, 2006 04:23 pm (UTC)
Yep that is Gerard! I didn't even really know who he was until I saw Dracula 2000 a couple years back... oh my the shivers he gave me. Plus he played Attila in a TV movie and was sooo dang sexy. And yes as Terry from TR he was gorgeous. He was also in the movie Timeline... I love that movie because he goes back to the time of knights and sword fighting. Gerard seems perfect for those movies which is why so many Outlander fans like him if they ever make Outlander into a movie (it has been considered). Of course, I think he's to old now to be a 20-something Jamie but he could play older versions of Jamie. I'm rambling. Outlander and Gerry are favorite subjects of mine.

Jamie and Claire have to be the best characters I've ever read in a book... now if you can think of characters that come close or in your opinion are better... tell me so I can read about them. *smile*

Oh and my icon is Gerard Butler as Attila the Hun but a O fan made him Jamie instead.

Tis so pretty! I shouldn't have spent so much but it is a once in a lifetime thing... limited edition and I do love Outlander books soooo much...

Thanks... I'm having a really fun birthday already...

Hey Happy Birthday sweetie!!!!! *Smooches & Hugs*

I actually remembered it and went into My LJ to make the post to wish you 'Happy Birthday', and saw yours....you are so you!!!

Anyway, here's wishing you many more fun-filled, Ronon-loving birthdays. I think your gift to yourself is gorgeous and worth whatever you paid for it. You know life is too short to deny ourselves the things that bring us pleasure, and surely you deserve to reap the benefits of your hard work, especially on this special day. So, all God's blessing and a heartfelt wish for you to enjoy the rest of today!
Jill aka Jo: Rononsireesanwar on September 12th, 2006 10:41 pm (UTC)
Dang! That has to be one of the nicest birthday messages I've gotten all day! *happy sniffles* Yeah... I wanted my to be able to see my Journal all day with a big happy birthday to me. Couldn't help it.

Ronon filled brithday is all I dream about... I'm thinking of watching Sateda just so the day is perfect. I do deserve my present don't I. *smiling* You are so right... thanks for telling me so.

And thank you so much for your wishes of God's blessings... that really got me... and I'm not kidding... it was so sweet of you. *happy sniffles again* *BIG HUG IN RETURN*
lacenirelacenire on September 12th, 2006 10:52 pm (UTC)
Glad I could add just a tad more happimess to your special day, you deserve it.

I admit to pausing when I was about to type 'God's blessings'...you know so many people nowadays don't want to hear about God, but I told myself that a fantastic girl like you must know God, and won't take offence. I'm really glad that I went ahead and added it now! :-D

Btw, watching Sateda is a great way to get a major Ronon 'fix' to top of your day!
Jill aka Jo: Young Jarodsireesanwar on September 12th, 2006 10:57 pm (UTC)
Yes, I too pause before saying it. But I know and love God... he'd my buddy. And I'm glad you added it too because now I know I can say it right back!

God Bless!

Happy Birthday!!! I like the ring. Very pretty. Where did you get it?
Jill aka Jo: Jamie Je Suis Prestsireesanwar on September 13th, 2006 07:30 pm (UTC)
The ring is a replica of the one given to the heroine by her love in the Diana Gabaldon "Outlander" Series. Diana Gabaldon came up with the design and a small group of her fan club are being allowed to purchase the replicas being made. There is a limited amount being made and I don't even think they're accepting orders anymore. I had to commit to it about 6 months ago but even then I knew it was my b-day present so... for me. Yeah!

The people making it are at http://www.raru.com/ but they can only sell more if the author allows them... but they have tons of other gorgeous stuff that I'm going to start marking for suggestions for Christmas.
