Which Browser
Which internet browser do you use? I use Internet Explorer but have been told this isn't the best.... what would you recommend?

I swear by Mozilla Firefox. I've only had it crash on me a few times during the last two years I've used it and it offers a 'restore session' option so you don't lose the stuff you were looking at. It also highly customizable (although I've just got the standard stuff). It's also easier to navigate and it's very user friendly.

I also like that it has a download manager built in so when you dl files you never have them freeze up or cut out early.

Okay that sounds great and now I'm seriously considering the switch!
Briannabriannablade on November 30th, 2007 01:14 am (UTC)
I swear by it as well.

I use safari. Not so good - old and a lot of places don't allow for it anymore (like ff.net and google) so it's tougher to use there. But it's what I've got and if it means I can access LJ then I'm happy. :)

My hubby uses Firefox - swears it's the best out there and since he designs operating systems I'd go with his word.

Lovely header by the way!!

Yep I thought I'd try Firfox.

I love that header too. Found it a limbslikewire along with a ton of icons! I needed a livejournal change. Have you seen stardust_20?
stardust_20: Cute!stardust_20 on November 30th, 2007 11:38 am (UTC)
I just took a peek. I love it! Actually I rather like the header the way it is - the black around it just gives it a little bit more of a 'spacey' feel. :)

Thank you so much for fixing it for me. I like the blue much better. :)

I'm so glad you like the changes. I changed it in graffitigraphic so other people wanting it wouldn't have your problems. I also saved your previous layout to my computer so if you want that back ever... let me know.

I heart Firefox. The tabs feature is made of win.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 30th, 2007 12:56 am (UTC)
I downloaded it but I'm iffy on it. My bookmarks are all screwy...

I <3 firefox. It is so cool.

I love multiple tabs in one window.

I love all the add-ons! There are ones that work with lj, gmail and itunes and so much more. They are SO cool!!! I can talk you through them if you want.

My fav feature is cooliris which makes it so you can open a link in a small pop up window so you don't loose your place. (fun for reading my friend page and then making comments without loosing where I am on my friend page)

And the short cuts for lj are fun. Left clicking gives you all these options, color, font, user link, url link, and so much more.

You can also change how your browser looks which is fun.

Not heard of this cooliris before. I suppose this (imo) slightly annoying snapshot function LJ applied to links is similar to it, judging from what I read about it on Wikipedia. But the snapshot thingy is also much less controllable, and if one accidentally moves the mouse cursor over the shortcut thingy it... not to mention the little icon makes som link/image appearances look very odd. I still prefer keeping a window with a listing as is to keep on scrolling up and down in it, and then rightclicking to open any links in that up in a new tab windows though :)

Curiously enough, some of my friends hate tabs, I don't understand why. I've always loved them, they make browsing so much smoother than having a zillion separate browser windows open for each page one browses, as it can easily be around at least 5-10 tab windows at once.

I had the multi tab thing in IE but they tended to shut things down so that is why I'm switching.

Tell me about the add-ons... talk me through it.

Tell me about Cooliris too.

Tell me about it all!

Firefox roxors. And it has lots of cool LJ add-ons and stuff.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 30th, 2007 06:09 pm (UTC)
I have to figure out the add-ons because I want stuff that works with LJ

I use both Firefox and Opera (both portable atm because I'm at uni). Firefox can get a little dodgy when I download so I usually use Opera for that.
Also, Opera has a very easy way to keep up with blogs. Opera is nice and clean and also has the tabs feature. I think it also has widgets instead of the many, many ff add-ons but I've never really checked those out.
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 30th, 2007 06:15 pm (UTC)
I tried Opera and wasn't that impressed. Removed it from my computer. I'm not a huge fan of Firefox either but I want something different. Thanks for the input.
Mikatekamolo on November 30th, 2007 09:34 pm (UTC)
the latest version of internet explorer. the 7th. it is like opera - many windiwses in one browser.
Bethanie Dollar: Darker Sidechevellechik70 on December 1st, 2007 12:25 am (UTC)
Firefox is my favorite. But I don't mind the latest version of IE...I heart tabbed browsing and I have a decent pop up blocker. I have Firefox on my desktop and IE on my laptop.

I am using FireFox now and really loving it.

Mozilla Firefox os, in my opinion, the best.
Opera is really good, too. Is very stable and has a wonderful restore download function. But Mozilla has great add ons and allows a total personalization, so now, as I'm a really obsessed person, I use Opera to long, tricky downloads and Mozilla for everything else.

Thanks for the input. I'm currently playing around with FF. I'm enjoying it.
