PhotoShop Help Needed

Actually my issue is with ImageReady. I can't get my animated icon to save as a gif and we know a jpg won't remain animated. What do I do?

Instead of saving it as "Save as..." go to "saved optimized as..." under the File menu

I tried that the only extension options are .html and .jpg

Hmm.,
You have made animated icons previously using ImageReady?
And this is a layered psd-file you have been working on? Or did you add the effects/layers etc in ImageReady from scratch so to speak? I find it is easier fiddling with layers and stuff in PS, and then open/export the file to IR.

Just what are the options for the Save as type box?
And below that for Settings it is the default option?
Can you show us a screencap of this menu as it appears when you try the Save Optimized As..?

Re: Hmm.,
I have used ImageReady before but only to make the icons animated.

I usually make the icons in layers in PS and then hit the "Edit in Image Ready" to make it animated.

Here are the Save As options...

How do I know if it is the default options. I go into the "Output Settings" but I don't understand the options in there and can't find anything refering to gif.

Here are two pictures to show you what it looks like when I try the Save Optimized As....

Re: Hmm.,
Hmm, tried changing the Settings box to "Default"? Or is that not possible? As atm you have it set to "Custom"..

Re: Hmm.,
I'm confused. Where exactly do I go for these settings change? I went to
File > Output Settings... but I don't know what to do from there.

What is ATM and where do I set it to custom?

Re: Hmm.,
Nono, the Settings option you see in that screencap :)

This is how it looks for you.. and what I assume it is you need to fiddle with..

As in IR for me it looks like this..

Re: Hmm.,
I changed it to default but there was no gif option.

Re: Hmm.,
Now that is really strange. Well, last resort, open up an animated gif file, and see if you can re-save it as a gif? And then while that one is open, open up the file you want to save as a gif. 'cause if that doesn't work, your IR version really needs a spanking :/

A reinstall might not do much if this doesn't help, I suspect, it must be some kind of setting elsewhere.. *hmms more*

Re: Hmm.,
I did open another pic and it was savable as a gif but when I go back into the one I was working on it won't let me. Goes back to CUSTOM!

Re: Hmm.,
Do you use IRC?

Me and a friend might be able to help you get to the bottom of this if you get on an specific IRC server/chat.

Re: Hmm.,
You know what I did? I went to PS and opened a new icon... put all the layers in the new. Edited it in IR and it saved as a gif. I don't understand it but it is working now... *sigh*

Here it is...

Hi! Have you tried to ignore the extension options and just type .gif at the end of your file's name?

That has worked for me in the past.

(I am not on your flist, I am a member at the "la femme nikita fan fiction" community and I happened to see your post. I hope it's ok, that I thought to give an idea.)
Jill aka Jo: Annoyed: LFN Me Against the Worldsireesanwar on September 14th, 2007 05:50 pm (UTC)
I actually have tried to just type in .gif and the file ended up being called... disney-sireesanwar026.gif.jpg which is just so annoying.

That is okay. I don't mind how you came about trying to help me... I just appreciate that you are. Plus this was a general post for all the world if they stumbled upon it. No biggy.

Thanks so much for trying to help me. Apparently my ImageReady is revolting. lol
