NBC Orders Second Heroes Series

NBC announced that it has ordered six segments of a new series called Heroes: Origins, which will air in the main show's Monday-night timeslot when it goes on hiatus, Variety reported.

The new series will center on new characters that haven't yet been introduced on the original show, and will feature an interactive element. Viewers will have a chance to vote for their favorite character, who will later cross over to the regular Heroes.

According to Variety, the move is intended to avoid repeats, which have been earning record low ratings this year on all five networks.

Weird.. can't decide if it is a Woo Hoo or a groan.

I don't know how I feel about that actually....I hope it won't ruin anything for the show, it's so amazingly good and well written, I'm terrified it will suddenly go downhill, like Lost did :(

See that is how I feel. What if they ruin everything. Of course, at the same time the possibilities for this show are endless.

It could be an interesting idea. Being involved in choosing the characters. But I know that there are a few Heroes that I really didn't like in the beginning and if I were a voting person (which I really am not) I would have def voted off Issac, Niki/Jessica, Bennett, DL, new shape shifting girl and maybe some others even and now I see that they were/are important to the show and some I have even come to like now. So I guess I would worry that the story would be compromised because we would be voting without really understanding what their ultimate purpose was in the storyline. And aren't there enough call in vote reality shows?

I didn't like quite a few of the characters either. The only ones I'm really fond of are
Peter - fav

I hate Nathan. Niki/Jessica thing is so highly annoying... I liked Isaac but we don't need him now that Peter is capable. I like the new alliance with Bennett, Matt, and Ted. It is interesting. But I love Hero shows.

Oh I really disliked Nathan too! Hiro and Ando are hands down my favorites and I've come to like Peter and Bennett. I wonder how next season could possibly compare to this one. After you save the world, what do you do for an encore. I read that we will get to see a bit of the set up for next season in the next episode.

I love Hiro and Ando. There are so funny! I think my love of Peter has to do with his ability to use all powers. That is just awesome. It would be even cooler if he came into contact with the Haitian. Then he could prevent Sylar from using his abilities.

I'm hoping next season will be awesome. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah Peter has turned out to be a pretty great character. It's cool to see Milo too because I never really expected him to be a lead in a major and hugely popular show. I first saw him on Gilmore Girls as just the 'bad boy' and he was so damn annoying as that character and then he was supposed to 'move away' and there was going to be a spin off with him and his newly reconnected with father (Rob Estes) and that just didn't look good at all and look at him now! :D I love seeing an actor evolve from small beginnings. And its also cool that Greg G finally got a job on a show that JJ Abrams wasn't involved in!

I never even thought of Peter absorbing the Haitian's powers! that is a great idea. Well we find out soon enough how this whole thing gets averted. Or my thought was that maybe they doesn't actually succeed and next season they have to figure out how to 'fix' it, but that's kinda been what they were doing going into the future and then coming back again so I guess that would be redundant. Our heroes were dropping like flies last week huh? I'm looking forward to next season too! :)

Oh I despised Milo on Gilmore Girls. I didn't like Jess but then I started to dislike Dean when last he was on. I didn't mind Logan but they never really went to that great boyfriend for Rory. That college kid who really liked her had potential but they never went there.

I noticed they wanted to spin off for Milo but that was a bad idea.

I'm glad Greg G got a job on a show that wasn't JJ Abrams too. I really like him. Loved him on Felicity and Alias. And I had to laugh that he was the pilot on Lost. Matt isn't my favorite character on Heroes but I do like him.

Yeah. Peter is so awesome but he can do whatever Sylar can do. Could you imagine if Peter were in a fight with Sylar and Jessica/Niki, came around. Peter would be even more kick butt and then if he got the Haitian's abilities. *shaking head* That is just way too awesome. I mean there is nothing Peter can't do.

I think they'll either stop the bomb and then they'll be fall out with whatever group they are going after or dealing with OR they won't and they will have to go back or something. I don't know but I'm hoping they wrap that up and then give us another awesome story because so far I've never been bored.

I think perhaps it's a groan. When I first heard the news (yesterday was it? or this morning?) I thought Yay! but then found out it wasn't backstory for our Heroes and how they got their powers, but something altogether different. Which didn't excite me much (I'm not excited about Caprica either, if it even happens - second series usually don't do well) and now that I've found out about the 'choose your own hero' I'm even less enthused. I remember the 'Choose your own ending' books and they sucked. So do most of those 'choose the best singer' music TV shows.

Oh well, I suspect it won't have legs. Six episodes is probably all it'll get.

Well there is a lot of potential for powers which would be interesting and I'm wondering if maybe Beginnings is about Linderman and Hiro's father...possible Peter and Nathan's dad too.. maybe their mom... that might not be too bad.

I think that would make it saveable. I'd love to know the background and how the original group of 'heroes' split since it's looking a lot like this new group will be split between the good/bad as well.

I'd love to see Niki/Jessica killed off but other than that I really like them all. Even the evil ones. :D
Jill aka Jo: Heroes- Here to save the worldsireesanwar on May 17th, 2007 08:33 pm (UTC)
Very true. They have indicated that the "Original Group" may have been Linderman, Hiro's Father, and that guy that Bennett shot among others. I think it would be fascinating to see the origins of such a group and it would seem from Claud (Invisible Man) that this generation isn't the beginning of these powers. I have a feeling Peter and Nathan's father is a mystery they will taunt us with.

I don't like Jess/Nik either though she does have potential. I wouldn't mind Peter meeting her and gaining her ability. *smile* That is what I love about Peter.

I love Peter too. The fact that he absorbs powers is cool, but I like him as a person as well.

One of my other favourites is Bennett. For the longest time you just didn't know if he was a good guy or a bad guy. :)

You know I started a Mutant X story with a girl like that but never really finished it. I should.

I like Bennett too. You weren't sure he was good but you knew he wanted Claire safe. I usually have trouble hating bad guys. Sometimes they are the character I love the most. The problem is they're bad. Sylar I hate. He's a very good baddy but he's so awful.
