Thankful Day 1: Rain
For the past several years, I committed myself to doing a 25 Days of Christmas Meme which is essentially nostalgia, likes, recipes, crafts and gift ideas for Christmas. I've got it planned this year too. But some reason I'm feeling really into the holidays this year and thought I'd start off with a similar idea of this as the Thankful things meme which is going to be a combination of things I'm thankful for, food, goodies and crafts. It will go through to the 24th which is the US's Thanksgiving celebration (I know my Canadian friends already celebrated). I can't say I've made all of these things but some of them definitely and other are just great ideas I've found which I wanted to share. To start off it is going to be something I'm currently thankful for.

Some of you might recall California has been having a drought the last couple of years. Well, I can't say it is over but typically we doing get rain until January but we've had several weeks where half of the days are rainy. One day will just be a torrential downpour while the other wet days are more drizzly. And it seems to be a pattern. Every week looking at the weather apps says we will have a few sunny days and then we are back in it for wet weather. Now matter the pattern or the likelihood it will continue through our winter, we are grateful for the water. Our trees, farms, orchards, and vineyards need it.

So I'm also wondering if there is something you are particularly grateful for today?

Great idea! I always love reading your Christmas posts, nice idea to change it up for Thanksgiving.

I've been seeing that you're getting rain. Thank goodness! We've had a lot ourselves this year and I'd have been happy to share it with you. I'm glad you're getting it fairly regularly too.

I'm thankful that I got to take the car to work today. I helped in the library this morning setting up the book fair and have to teach this afternoon but having the car instead of taking the bus means I could come home (where I am now) to feed the dog and let her out to pee so she doesn't make a mess on the floor. Definitely something to be thankful for!

I thought so plus there was so many things coming up that looks so great to share this time of year whether they are used for US Thanksgiving or Christmas time... or just to enjoy because we can.

I'm so glad we are getting this rain because it is so needed. I like rain and it has been rather wonderful to wash away all the irritants in the air and just leave things feeling fresh and clean.

I'm glad you have the car today too! Sometimes it helps just to be able to do things on your own schedule rather than relying on a bus schedule.

It is true. Especially after work I'm finding. I'd like to be able to just come home when I'm ready, not have to wait for the bus, or in some cases end up running for it (and often missing it) because it's 10 minutes after I finish and then parents want to chat about their kids' lessons so I can't get out on time. Nice to have the car once in a while. :)

So true.

That is a great one, seeing as most people don't like the rain. But I love the reminder, that we all should be thankful for it, because we'd be lost without it.

I'm looking forward find out what else you are thankful for :)

What am I thankful for today? Okay, I'm thankful for public transportation. Even though it made me an hour late today, it allows me to go places and see people, that I wouldn't be able to otherwise, seeing as I don't have a car. So yes, even though there are problems, I'm thankful for public transportation :)

I've always liked rain to a certain extent. I mean I don't like when it ruins my fun going to Disneyland or some other fun place but I like it for the everyday. I adore the sound of it on the roof at night and I love the smell of everything when it has rained.

I would be too. Sometimes I wish we had the public transportation that cities have because being rural means there is no way to get anywhere without some from of transport and we do have a bus system but it isn't great.

Lovely idea.

So good that you've been getting rain.

Today I'm thankful for the sunshine, we had some rather dark and dreary days last week, so it's really nice to see the sun again, even if it's freezing outside.

Sunshine is wonderful too. It is especially welcome after some gloomy days.
