Book Description:
The future is bright for Reese Ellis. She has Mase Colt-Manning, the man of her dreams, and a family she didn’t know existed until her long-lost father arrived on her doorstep in Rosemary Beach. After growing up with a cruel mother and abusive stepfather, Reese is eager to get to know the caring and charming man who wants to be a part of her life. Everything is finally falling into place.

While Reese is visiting her new family in Chicago, Mase spends time with his “cousin,” Aida, who has worshipped him since childhood. Though they’re unrelated by blood, Mase and Aida have been raised to think of each other as family. But when Reese returns, she can tell something isn’t quite right with Aida, who clearly resents Reese and excels at manipulative little games. And though Mase is unsuspecting, Reese knows Aida doesn’t love him like a cousin should...

My Thoughts About the Book:
You know I was really looking forward to the continuation of Reese and Mase's love story. Instead of watching Reese come into her own and Mase convince Reese to be with him forever, we get this strange sense that Reese can only be happy if she is loved by Mase. She can only believe in herself if Mase does. It is just demeaning.

Mase's cousin Aida is around and Aida knows there is no biological tie between herself and Mase so she makes a move. Mase is a good guy and loves Reese, besides he thinks of Aida as a cousin. But Aida likes to put Reese down. And Reese who gets all this gushy goo from Mase, buys it. *steam coming out of ears*

Mase wants to do nothing extra in his life because he's rather just be with Reese at home? Seriously? I could understand the alone time to some extent but Mase made it sound like he couldn't go places with others because Reese might not want to go. Unhealthy relationships, people. First, if Reese doesn't want to go fine. Sometimes being away from each other is okay. If Reese is mad you go even though she doesn't want to she's crazy.

Then Reese acts like she needs to ask for permission for everything she does which is insane. She wants a job and fears Mase will be upset? To some extent one could understand Reese's logic because of her past but Mase has already proven he wants her to have everything so asking permission for this was sick.

Then enters Captain who has the dumbest name ever and seems like a jerk because he appears to be hitting on Reese who is uncomfortable and in love with another. This doesn't detour him. So he's an ass too. RULE: If a girl says she's taken, back the hell off.

And then there was this scenario like Reese cheated... Captain buys Reese lunch, which he brought to the office (because he got himself lunch and was going to be working with Reese). Granted I have no doubt he had some motives but Reese wasn't biting. Why is that an issue? Mase does not need to start bringing her lunch. Sure that would be nice but come on. Working lunch is not cheating. Glines follows this up with only Reese seeing it that way and literally falling apart. The amount of insanity in this book drove me mad.

Mase is a farmer. He doesn't have all this time he's throwing around to drop everything during the day. It is beyond unrealistic.

While I do like this series, this has to be the worst one and there is this terrible pattern of men who can't have their women out of their sight.

To top that off, a really big deal issue comes up, and while everything seemed to be handled really well; the upset level was the same as this dumb lunch scenario which was ridiculous and rather overshadows a really scary situation.

And then we all realize this entire book is about setting everything up for Captain.

I'm just sad about this.
